Spark switch

A spark switch, especially for the series connection or parallel connection of capacitors which have previously been charged to a specific value in order to produce high impulse-like voltages or currents in impulse-voltage generators or in impulse-current installations is intended to be constructed such that it is completely encapsulated and can be used for a very wide voltage range as a result of variable parameters, such as a variable electrode separation and/or variable pressure in the housing. This is achieved in that the switching gap or spark gap is encapsulated in a housing (2) consisting of two housing parts (3, 4). One housing part (3) consists of a metallic, hemispherical part which forms one of the electrodes of the switching gap or spark gap. The other hemispherical housing part (4) consists predominantly of insulating material. A shaft (8) which can move in a reciprocating manner in the axial direction and is provided in the interior of the spherical housing (2) with at least one hemispherical electrode (7) is guided in a pressure-tight manner centrally through this housing part (4). <IMAGE>
