PURPOSE:To enable the analysis of an anion and cation with good accuracy by simultaneously and efficiently separating both of them, by using a separating column packed with a specific anion exchange gel particles and a chelate agent- containing eluting solution in the analysis due to inon exchange chromatography of plural ions in an aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION:To a separation column 5 packed with an anion exchange gel particles having quaternary ammonium salt comprising a hydrophilic silica gel or a polyacrylate gel into which (C2H5)2NC2H5- is introduced, an eluting solution containing an amino carboxylic acid type chelate agent such as ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid is sent from a storage tank 1 through a pump 2 while mixed with a specimen solution at an aqueous specimen solution injecting part 3. The metal cation in the specimen solution is instantaneously reacted with the chelate agent to form a complexed anion which is efficiently separated in a similar way as other anions (Cl<->, NO3<->) in the specimen solution. The separated eluate is analyzed by a conductivity detector 6 and an ultraviolet ray and visible light detector 7 measure the concn. of each componential ion which is, in turn, dispalyed or recorded by a recorder 8. By this method, both ions can be simultaneously analyzed by the eluting solution and one column. |
