The invention relates to a sheet-conveying device in printing machines. The object of providing a sheet-conveying device which draws the sheet against the device and makes it taut transversely and counter to the sheet-conveying direction is achieved in that sheet-conveying bars are provided, which are arranged adjustably below the sheet-conveying path and over the entire sheet width and can be acted upon by air. The sheet-conveying bars are provided laterally with nozzles, and a closed boundary plate is provided below the sheet-conveying bars. The compressed air emerging from the nozzles forms an angle between 90 DEG and 135 DEG to the transporting direction of the sheet and acts upon the underside of the sheet tangentially (Figure 3). <IMAGE>
