PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for a dry battery and to allow a timepiece to operate stably for a long period by providing an auxiliary charge storage part and switching and using a charge storage part through a voltage control element. CONSTITUTION:When a solar battery 1 is irradiated with light in an initial state wherein neither the charge storage part 6 nor the auxiliary charge part 5 is charged, the voltage of a battery 1 is applied to a voltage control part 2 and a voltage control element 7, which turns ON. Then, the storage part 5 is charged speedily by the battery 1 and a timepiece part 4 begins to operate, when stored charge is sufficient and the output voltage of a voltage dividing part 3 drops to a specific value, the control part 2 turns OFF the element 7 and a voltage control element 9 is turned ON through a signal conversion part 10, so that the charge storage is switched to the storage part 6. When the timepiece part 4 operates continuously and the voltage of the storage part 5 drops, the ON-OFF operation of the elements 7 and 9 is controlled similarly and when the storage part 6 is charged sufficiently, a voltage control element 8 is turned ON through the timepiece part 4 which detects light irradiation, so that electric power is supplied to the timepiece part 4 from the storage part 6. Consequently, the need for a dry battery is eliminated and the timepiece operates stably for a long period. |
