PURPOSE:To completely erase signals of all channels, by providing two flying erase heads at locations which are separated from each other with almost the same interval as that between the front head and rear head fitting locations. CONSTITUTION:Erase heads 30 and 32 respectively have such track widths that they can cover recording tracks of four channels and the interval between them is set equally to the interval between those at both sides of magnetic recording heads for four channels, namely, the interval A between the magnetic recording heads of the 1st and 4th channels. The erase head 30 is relatively moved across points (a) and (a') of a magnetic tape 10 and the other erase head 32 is moved across points (b) and (b') of the tape 10 and both of them erase signals. While each of the erase heads 30 and 32 can erase a half of the four channel area, the whole area of four channels can be erased, because each of them erases a different half area under an overlapped condition. |
