The protector (1) is intended for fitting to the rear ends of the shoes (8) of a motor vehicle driver. It comprises a resilient, preferably smooth plastics element which is shaped to clamp on the shoe and has a downward projection (6) to engage below the heel of a flat shoe or against the heel of a high-heeled shoe. The inner surface of the element is provided with strips of high-pile cloth whilst the rear may have outlet openings (4) for dust and moisture and a ring (3) with chain (7) securable in the vehicle.
