<p>A temperature control system for the catalyst of an exhaust gas afterburner arranged in the exhaust pipe to maintain the reaction temperature within an optimum oxidizing range by blowing heated air through the afterburner when the temperature is below the optimum range and by blowing cool air through the afterburner when the temperature is above the optimum range. Heated air is obtained by burning an air-fuel mixture in a chamber communicating with the exhaust pipe upstream of the afterburner.</p> |
