A process for the separation of fine particles of catalyst from a hydrocarbonic charge leaving a catalytic cracking unit (11), characterised in that said charge is filtered through mineral microfiltration barriers (1) formed by a heat-resistant carbon support which, on the side of the charge to be filtered, is coated with a sensitive layer of metal oxide(s) having a porosity of between 1 and 100 mu m.
