<p>The methyl ester of 1-(2,3,5-tri-o-benzoyl beta-D-ribo-furanosyl) 1,2,4-triazole 3-carboxylic acid (I), for pharmacological use due to its anti-viral and anti-tumour activity, is made by (a) reacting 1,2,4-triazole 3-carboxylic acid methyl ester with hexamethyl disilazone, refluxing until evolution of ammonia ceases; (b) separating excess hexamethyl disilazone to obtain the methyl ester of N-(trimethyl silyl) 1,2,4-triazole 3-carboxylic acid; (c) treating this with 2,3,5-tri-o-benzoyl D-ribofuranosyl bromide in a suitable solvent; and recrystallising the prod. from suitable solvent to obtain (I).</p> |
