Refrigerator with eutectic plate heat exchanger - uses gas evaporation system which only requires compressor power once or twice per day

At the rear of the cooled cavity, which has a volume of 20 litres or more, is a eutectic plate. The plate contains a 'solid solution' in which the freezing of the water concentrates the strength of the other constituent of the solution. The plate is pierced by a network of tubes which carry the refrigerant gas. The gas passes to a condenser on the rear wall of the refrigerator. The condenser is not of the normal grid type, but is a plate contg. quantities of material which melts to absorb the heat transferred from the inside cavity. The eutectic plate freezes in about 1.5 hours, during which the compressor is running, and melts in about 12 hours, when no power is consumed. The compressor is operated by a thermostatic clock.
