1419663 Coated products GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 5 Nov 1973 [6 Nov 1972] 51256/73 Heading B2E A heat fusible thermosettable injection mouldable phenol-aldehyde composition comprising pellets of diameter at least <SP>1</SP>/ 16 in. of the resin having a coating of (1) a metallic salt of a long chain fatty acid of 8-20 carbon atoms and (2) one or more alkyl esters of an aromatic or aliphatic acid. There may be present a polyglycol, polyglycol ester or mixtures of these. The coating composition may consist of 0.5-10 parts of (2) per part of (1). The polyglycol or polyglycol esters may constitute 20-50% of a mixture with (2). The coating may constitute 0.05-2.0 parts per 100 parts of pellets. The preferred metallic salt is zinc stearate. Many suitable esters are listed the compositions may be applied by blending in a jar on rolls, stirring in a container or on a ribbon blender. The pellets may contain as fillers, asbestos fibres, wood flour, aluminium silicate, calcium carbonate, talc or glass fibres. |
