On either side of the patient (P) there are carrying rods (5) on a suspension gear (42 to 44) of a trolley (41) of a crane frame (4, 40) of a lifting device (K). Each carrying rod (5) carries a large number of clamping bodies (6) which are pivotable thereon and which retain the blanket (9) in clamping fashion and in interaction with the clamping rod (7) fixed to the carrying rod (5) by mountings (8). The weight of the patient (P) increases the clamping force. Where necessary, blanket end parts or additional blankets can support the head and feet of the patient (P). This permits operation without special belts or special blankets and without disturbance of the patient. <IMAGE>
