PURPOSE:To prevent the leak of an electrolytic solution, by providing an alkaline electrolytic solution absorbing and fixing agent in an air diffusion layer located between an air electrode and an air electrode case having air intake holes. CONSTITUTION:Air diffusion paper 3, which is made of cellulose as the main constituent and contains an agent for absorbing and fixing an alkaline electrolytic solution, is provided in the recess of the inside bottom of a positive electrode case 1 having air feed holes 2 in the bottom thereof. The air diffusion paper instantly absorbs and fixes the alkaline electrolytic solution leaking through an air electrode or through between the air electrode and a gasket or the positive electrode case 1. When the quantity of the absorbed solution has exceeded a prescribed limit, the diffusion of oxygen and steam to the air electrode is completely blocked to stop the electricity generating operation of a battery to prevent a battery-employing machine from being damaged by the leaking solution. |
