1453287 Friction clutches LUK LAMELLEN UND KUPPLUNGSBAU GmbH 23 Oct 1973 [17 Nov 1972] 49299/73 Heading F2C In a friction clutch having a presser plate 5, engaged by a diaphragm spring 3 the part of the plate abutted by the spring has a groove 7 in which a ring 8 (in the embodiment shown) is accommodated to increase the axial width 6 of the plate 5 by an amount a to compensate for material removed from the face 6 of the plate 5 during resurfacing of the plate, and so maintain the spring force. The embodiment shown is a clutch in which the spring 3 operates by lever action, but a further embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) has the diaphragm spring acting between two presser plates of a duplex clutch, one of the plates having a groove to accommodate the insert, which need not have the circular cross-section of the ring shown. The insert may have corrugations in the axial direction as a substitute for spring mounting of the friction discs. The insert 8 also takes up wear of the part of the presser plate acted on by the spring.
|
