摘要 PURPOSE:To contrive improvement in the magneto-optical characteristics and light transmission characteristics of the titled magnetic material by a method wherein specific ultrafine metal particles are dispersed, and a support material comprising an inorganic compound insulating material or an organic compound insulating material having a light transmission property for the light to be used, is provided. CONSTITUTION:Ultrafine metal particles of 50-500Angstrom in grain diameter having magneto-optical characteristics, and a supporting material consisting of an inorganic compound insulating material or organic compound insulating material having a light transmission property for the light used when the above-mentioned metal particles are dispersed, are provided. To be concrete, the ferromagnetic transition metal such as Fe, Co, Ni and the like or their alloy, the compound ferromagnetic material consisting of the precious metals such as Au, Ag, Pt, Rh and the like containing Cu, the antiferromagnetic metal such as Cr, Mn and the like, the compound ferromagnetic metal such as Cr, Mn and the like, the compound ferromagnetic material consisting of metalloid such as Al, Sn, Sb, Ge and the like, the ferromagnetic compound containing a rare-earth metal of La-Yb containing Y, or their alloy are desirable as the material for the ultrafine metal particles. The crystal form of the ultrafine metal particles is in a crystalline or amorphous state. As a result, the ultrafine metal particles have an excellent magneto-optical effect and light transmission property, and they can be formed into an arbitrary shape by a simple process.
