PURPOSE:To make communication between stations other than stations in communication by making a station that is not in communication switch an optical switch and select an optical transmission line when a station on a network is communicating with other station. CONSTITUTION:When a station A is going to communicate with a station B, optical signals from an optical transmitter of the station A are inputted to optical receivers of all stations A-F through optical transmission lines 31-36. Optical signals transmitted by any one of stations C-F in which the optical switches are in the state L in the figure (b) are not inputted to the optical receiver of the station B in which the optical switch is in the state N shown in the figure (a). Optical signals transmitted by the station A in which the optical switch is in the state N are not inputted to light receivers of the stations C-F. Accordingly, even when all the stations A-F transmit optical signals of the same wavelength, communication can be made between the stations C-F when communication is being made from the station A to the station B. |
