Copolymers of styrenesulphonic acids with improved thermal stability. Application, especially to drilling fluids

New water-dispersible macromolecular gels and their application to the production of drilling muds. New weakly crosslinked macromolecular gels with the structure of copolymers of styrenesulphonic acids and divinylarylsulphonic acids. These gels can be dispersed in water and saline solutions. They are suitable for forming aqueous fluids with controlled rheological properties, which retain their properties during prolonged exposures to high temperatures. Application to very simple drilling mud formulations.
