American investigators are already using nozzle jets for the purpose of guidance at the front of elongate medical instruments, but they use them in conjunction with an elaborate, additional pipe system. Especially on use of a single-lumen catheter this principle can be simplified and improved in that the front of the catheter is fitted with a nozzle which can be closed by the investigator with a closure body by means of a flexible shaft, this closure body at the same time being designed as a nozzle body for the purpose of guidance with laterally opening nozzles, so that in the case of fluid jets emerging at the sides - after the rear termination of the catheter - curving at the front of the catheter is achieved in any desired direction in the sense of a circle division of 360<o>.
