In the transportation means according to the invention the fixing device is composed of a sleeve (8) provided at the upper end with a control surface (16) and a locking bolt (7) which is mounted in a sliding manner in the sleeve and is provided at its lower end with an operating lever (9). Inserted into the upper end of the locking bolt (7) is a projection (17) which is designed as a pin and bears non-positively against the control surface (16) due to the action of a compression spring (19) surrounding the locking bolt (7). To unlock the fixing device the locking bolt (7) is moved by a corresponding pivoting movement of the operating lever (9) into its upper end position. The fixing device is designed such that no parts protrude beyond the contours of a conveying carriage or a rolling container. A plurality of conveying carriages or rolling containers can then be placed next to one another without a gap. Since the lever (9) is operated from below, the loading surface can be fully utilised. <IMAGE>
