A mobile pneumatic appliance (10) for sucking off and blowing off fibre fly from textile machines by means of cleaned air is improved in that a cleaning device (26) for a fine filter (26) is provided. While the appliance (10) is operating in a suction and blowing mode, the band-shaped fine filter (30) remains at rest, whereas, in the cleaning mode, the fine filter (30) is at the same time transported and subjected to suction. This takes place synchronously at the ends of two regions (46, 52) of the fine filter (30) and ensures that the entire filter effect is always available and that the fine filter (30) can be wound up neatly and a long service life of a fine-filter roll thus becomes possible. <IMAGE>
