A fuel injection device for diesel engines, in which the injection quantity is adjusted by a first control mechanism (17) and the injection timing by a second control mechanism (27). The two control mechanisms (17, 22) are arranged above a receiving chamber (15) for a spring (16) and each have control rods (18, 23) and the control sleeves (19, 24). Each control sleeve (19, 24) is pushed or fitted onto a cylinder (5) and the control sleeves (19, 24) bear on one another so that a compact construction is obtained. <IMAGE>
