The rack appliance is provided for a tool rack which has shelves for depositing tools. The rack appliance has a vertically movable lifting truck with a rest for the tool. The lifting truck is vertically movable along a supporting truck which can be moved horizontally along the tool rack. The rest for the tool is provided on a telescopic device which is arranged on the lifting truck and with which the rest can be moved out of the lifting truck in opposite directions. The rest can be moved directly under the tool mounted in the tool rack and can be moved out. Therefore no separate guides or conveying devices for the tools are necessary in the individual shelves. With the telescopic device, the tool can then be transported, for example, to a transfer point.
