The aim in a retaining device for optical fibres (F1) is for the fibres (F1), which are provided in places with a metallic coating, to be fixed correctly in place and in a vacuum-tight fashion by being soldered into a fibre housing (Fa1). It is provided for this purpose that at least one soldering preform and at least one centering member (Zk11), which is provided with a fibre-guiding bore (Fb11), can be inserted sequentially into a circularly cylindrical recess (An1) of the fibre housing (Fa1). Thereafter, the fibre (F2) is inserted from the rear, and the entire arrangement is heated to soldering temperature accompanied by the simultaneous exertion of pressure on the centering member (Zk11). The original soldering preform, which has the form of a perforated disc, then melts and fixes the fibre (F2) as solder (L1) in a positionally stable and vacuum-tight fashion. Such retaining devices are suitable, in particular, for use in optical transmitter modules. <IMAGE>
