The invention relates to a multi-position illuminated motor-vehicle switch having a plurality of symbols which are allocated to the switching positions on a switching shaft, are arranged on a display area and can be illuminated by a light source which is arranged in a fixed position. During its movement into the switching positions, the switching shaft can drive a light conducting body which runs with a first end close to the side of the display area facing away from an observer and has an extent which corresponds at least approximately in terms of area to the area extent of the individual symbols, and which engages over the light source, like a cover with a second end, in all switching positions. In consequence, the symbol which is allocated to the selected switching position can be illuminated very brightly. The other symbols are illuminated uniformly brightly by the light which emerges between the ends of the light conducting body, but are darker than the symbol which is to be allocated to the selected switching position. Correct identification of all switching positions is thus ensured, the respectively selected switching position being emphasized in a high-contrast manner. |
