A branched infinitely-variable hydromechanical transmission for motor vehicles has a first travelling speed range in order to lengthen the gear changing range and obtain a higher power output, and dispenses with the use of a clutch for starting. The transmission comprises an initial hydrostatic unit (A) of adjustable volume, a second hydrostatic unit (B) of preferably constant volume and one or several summing gears (4, 9) for combining the power available at the transmission input in a hydraulic sub-assembly and a mechanical sub-assembly. The primary shaft (3) is directly connected to the drive motor (2). The branched transmission does not require its own starting clutch.
|
