A method for retarding the growth of turf grass comprises applying to said turf grass an effective growth retarding amount of a compound of the formula: <CHEM> wherein R1 is C1-C4 alkyl; R2 is hydrogen, C1-4 alkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl; C1-2 alkylamino, C1-2 alkylthio, C3-4 cycloalkyl, C2-6 alkoxyalkyl, C2-6 alkylthiomethyl, amino, phenoxy, phenamino, or furan; and R3 is phenyl, or phenyl substituted with one or more C1-4 alkyl or alkoxy. |
