<p>The liquors resulting from the cooling of coke oven distn. gases are collected in a static settling-out vessel, and a single fraction is drawn off from a level determined beforehand, to be sepd. centrifugally. The level selected is the one at which emulsions of water and tar collect in a zone below that in which there is little tar and above that contg. little water. The settling out of the liqs. can be effected continuously, and the emulsion content is kept down so that there is no problem as regards obtaining a liq. which can be recycled for cooling, and a tar very low in water content. Existing plant needs very little modification. Only a small quantity of the liq. in the settling out vessel located at a fixed height is extracted and centrifuged.</p> |
