PURPOSE:To feed a passbook uniformly, by a method wherein a passbook is constantly fed in a fixed direction to a reading and writing device. CONSTITUTION:The passbook 1 inserted into an inserting port 16 is fed in a predetermined direction (a), passes by a detector 28, is then fed further by a predetermined amount, and is stopped. Then, the passbook 1 is fed again in the second predetermined direction (b), again passes by the detector 28, and is fed to a reading and writing position in the reading and writing device 24. When the passbook 1 is set in the reading and writing position, printing information is read by a magnetic head. When reading is completed, the passbook 1 is again made to pass by the detector 28, and is fed to a printing position in a printing part 27. Accordingly, the passbook 1 can be accurately fed to and stopped at the printing position in the printing part 27 by setting a number of pulses for feeding on the basis of a detection signal and the printing information. When printing is completed, the passbook 1 again passes by the detector 28, is set into the reading and writing device 24, whereby magnetic information is rewritten, and after all processings are completed, the passbook 1 is discharged through the port 16. |
