PURPOSE:To contrive the improvement in photoelectric conversion efficiency by composing a photoelectric conversion molecular element by laminating the single molecular films of three compounds, an electron donating compound, a light absorbing compound, and an electron accepting compound between electrodes while preventing excited molecules from coming in contact directly with the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Single molecular films of each of an electron accepting compound A, a light absorbing compound S and an electron donating compound D are laminated between electrodes while preventing excited molecules (light absorbing compound) from coming in contact directly with the electrodes, namely in such a order as electrode electron accepting compound light absorbing compound electron donating compound with respect to one electrode or in the reverse order. As the compound A, a compound having high electron accepting property such as viologen derivative and quinone group is utilized and for the compound S, a derivative polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon compound such as pyrene and perylene is used. For the compound D, a derivative of metallocene or aniline is used. Thus, for the electron moving reaction in forward direction, the reverse electron moving reaction is restrained to improve a photoelectric conversion efficiency.
