PURPOSE:To improve the system working efficiency by storing a system fault information on a nonvolatile memory according to the system processing informa tion in the prescribed area of an auxiliary storage and preserving completely the fault information that is easily produced in the powering a system and is unregenerative. CONSTITUTION:When a system fault occurs, an MPU 11 collects the information on the fault and turns on an error flag in a nonvolatile memory 14 for an error display. At the same time, a system stop instruction is delivered. Then the MPU 11 in a data processor 10 performs the initial diagnosis again when a user cuts off the system power supply and then applies it again after the system operation is stopped. If the fault is ungenerative, the error flag of the memory 14 is checked. Then the fault information stored in the memory 14 is stored in the RAS log of a magnetic disk device 20 via a main memory 30. Thus the fault analysis is possible based on the information stored in the RAS log although the system is unregenerative. Then the time required for maintenance can be shortened. |
