PURPOSE:To allow an anion selective electrode to have high selectivity to an anion, by containing a compound containing a specific metal element of the Group IV in a polymer membrane as an anion responsive substance. CONSTITUTION:As a specific anion responsive substance, a compound represented by formula -{(CH2)m-MRX-MRX}n-(wherein R is an org group, M is a metal element of the Group IV selected from lead, germanium, tin and silicon, X is an electron withdrawing group selected from chlorine and bromine and m and n are a repeating number) is used. For example, one having 6 metal elements M represented by the formula forms an ionophore and the effective diameter of the ionophore is determined on the basis of the number (m) of carbons of (CH2)m. For example, in order to coordinate Cl<-> with good selectivity as compared with HCO3<->, the effective diameter of the ionophore is set to 1.9Angstrom or less and (m) to 2-7. Because the responsive substance forming the ionophore capable of coordinating the anion by the streochemical arrangement of metal elements is used, high selectivity to Cl<->, HCO3<-> and NO3<-> etc. in blood can be imparted to an anion selective electrode. |
