PURPOSE:To produce rotary outputs from both directions of an ultrasonic motor by disposing horns, a twisting coupler and a rotor at both sides of a piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION:When an AC voltage of frequency in an ultrasonic range is applied to electrodes of a common electrode plate 13 and horn 14, 15 sides of piezoelectric elements 11, 12, the elements 11, 12 are simultaneously elongated or shrinked in its thicknesswise direction to cause the horns 14, 15 to longitudinally vibrate. The vibrations of the horns 14, 15 are transmitted to twisting couplers 16, 17 to be converted to twisting vibration. Rotors 18, 19 pressed in contact with the ends 16d, 17d of the couplers 16, 17 are rotated in the prescribed direction by this vibration. |
