1530343 Spray carburetters: atomizing fuel NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 29 March 1976 [31 March 1975 8 April 1975] 12496/76 Headings F1B and F1H Fuel in the main well 22 of carburetter 10 is vibrated by diaphragm 34 which carries an armature 32 which is alternately attracted and repelled by electromagnet 30, connected to pulse generator 26 which runs at e.g. 60 Hz. In a modification, Fig. 3, electrostrictive vibrator 46 is driven by H.F. generator 44 and is mechanically connected to member 48 which is integral with the main discharge nozzle 20, which is supported by ball bearings 50. Fuel is supplied to nozzle 20 through passage 21 from main fuel well 22. Continuous control of the air/fuel ratio in dependence on the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gases is achieved by using sensor 60 in the exhaust pipe, which provides an electrical signal to control circuit 58. Electromagnet 54 is driven by circuit 58 and controls air valve 52 to admit supplementary air downstream of main air bleed 24. In a further modification, Fig. 4, (not shown) a second electrostrictive vibrator is provided to vibrate fuel supplied to the idle and progression ports.
