An inner operating member (6) with a spherical end (7) is enclosed in a sheath (1) for use with an endoscope for carrying out transurethral electro resection operations. The sheath has an outside diameter of between 9 and 11 mm, and is made of plastics material. It has a wall thickness of less than 1mm, preferably less than 0.5mm thick. The end which is clamped around the endoscope may be of a larger diameter, and may have an increased wall thickness. The inside diameter may be between 8.5 and 10.5 mm. The inner member is rod shaped (9) narrowing down at the part (8) neat the spherical end (7). This last 10 cm. of length can bend. The spherical part is slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the sheath.
