Thermoplastic mouldings are produced by dispensing a quantity required for one moulding from an extruder into a heated ladle. The ladle is locked to the mould and attached, with the mould outward, to the arm of a centrifugal casting machine. When the melt has filled the mould, the machine is opened and rotation is continued to complete the cooling to the mould ejection temp. Suitable for large mouldings of over 3-4 kg wt. for which injection moulding is uneconomical. Ribs and thin walls can be reproduced more satisfactorily than by the rotation powder sintering process.
|
