PURPOSE:To prevent the white omission of an image and the solidification or melt- fixing of a toner by measuring the light emission time of a laser beam in accordance with a picture signal and integrating and storing the corrected contents of the first storage means and sending a prescribed signal when contents exceeds a preliminarily set reference value. CONSTITUTION:A laser 2 emits or dims light in accordance with a picture input signal fv, and a counter 3 adds the light emission time of the laser 2 to a memory 4 from '0'. After one recording paper is printed, the contents of the memory 4 are corrected in accordance with a paper size signal Sp by a correcting circuit 6 and are transferred to a memory 7. The contents of the memory 7 are compared with a prescribed level by a comparator 8; and if the contents of the memory 7 exceeds the prescribed level of the comparator 8, a signal is sent from the comparator 8 to a controller 5, and a toner replenishing signal S which notifies beforehand the toner replenishment time or the cartridge replacement time is sent from the controller 5 to a display means. When the toner is replenished or a cartridge is replaced, the memory 7 is reset by a reset signal RST2. Thus, white omission due to the lack of the toner and solidification or melt-fixing of the toner due to excess replenishment are prevented. |
