PURPOSE:To improve storage performance by adding potassium hexafluorophosphate to a nonaqueous electrolyte in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using cupric oxide as positive active material and lithium or lithium alloy as negative active material CONSTITUTION:Potassium hexafluorophophate is added to electrolyte. Lithium metal is substituted with potassium ion and a lithium-potassium film is formed on the surface of lithium negative electrode. Even if water penetrates from the outside, this film retards the formation of an insulating film of lithium hydroxide. Since the lithium-potassium film is easily removed by discharge reaction, it has no adverse effect on discharge performance. The potassium ion and hexafluorophosphoric acid in react with impurities or active sites in the positive electrode, and retards increase in open circuit voltage after storage caused by the existence of impurities or active sites. |
