The subject of the invention relates to a lightened coarse protection device for roofs, terraces and other surfaces. It consists of the combination and superposition firstly of a spreadable material forming a waterproof layer 2 covering the support 1, then of a spreading of a so-called bonding intermediate layer 3 and finally of an external covering 4 based on granules of rubber or ground tyres bonded with a synthetic resin such as polyurethane prepolymers or the like. The subject of the invention relates to a lightened coarse protection device for roofs, terraces and other surfaces. It is intended to waterproof the roofs, terraces or covering parts which may be equally well inaccessible intended to be walked on, as well as for all surfaces to be waterproofed with a combined composite material having compositions which are, at the same time, lightweight, easily spreadable and resistant to the damaging effects of solar radiation and other mechanical or chemical attacks from outside agents. <IMAGE>
