The invention relates to a gumming unit for a machine for manufacturing envelopes, of the type comprising two adhesive-dispensing rollers which dip into a tank of adhesive, and a gumming cylinder. The shaft 22 of the gumming cylinder 14 is mounted rotatably in bearings 24 carried by the ends of lever arms 26, 28, which arms are fastened via their other end to a second shaft 30 mounted so as to swivel in the stationary frame of the machine, the gumming cylinder being entrained in rotation by a transmission comprising a first pinion 34, wedged on the shaft 36 of a cylinder 32 which is entrained by the main motor of the machine, a double pinion 38, 39 rotating freely on the said second shaft 30, a second pinon 40 wedged on the said first shaft 22 and two belts 42, 44 winding respectively around the said first pinion 34 and the double pinion 38, 39 and around the latter and the second pinion 40. <IMAGE> |
