PURPOSE:To prevent the omission of an image and solidification or fusion of a toner by measuring the light emission or dimming time of a print image area which an optical signal scans and correcting the counted value and the light emission or dimming time of an outline area and sending a prescribed signal if the corrected value exceeds a reference value. CONSTITUTION:An image signal fv is modulated by a modulator 1 and is inputted to a laser 2 and the light is emitted or dimmed in accordance with the image signal fv, and a counter 4 operates AND between the image signal fv from the modulator 1 and the output from a clock generator 3 and divides the frequency of the output in a frequency divider 3a by 1/4 and outputs the result. Meanwhile, a counter 5 counts rise and fall of the image signal fv to count a contour signal, and an operating circuit 7 executes the correcting calculation in accordance with outputs of counters 4 and 5 and contents of a line memory 6. A memory 8 integrates the output of the arithmetic circuit 7; and if the integrated value exceeds the reference value, a prescribed signal is outputted to a controller 10, and a toner replenishing signal S which notifies beforehand the toner replenishment time or the cartridge replacement time is sent from the controller 10 to a display means. Thus, the image omission due to lack of the toner and solidification or fusion of the toner due to excess replenishment are prevented. |
