PRODUCTION OF POWDERY MATERIAL FOR THERMAL SPRAYING

PURPOSE:To improve the wear and corrosion resistances of a film formed by thermally spraying a powdery material by roasting the powdery material produced from a melt contg. chromium oxide in an oxidizing atmosphere at a high temp. to lower the metallic chromium content in the material. CONSTITUTION:Oxide powder contg. chromium oxide powder is melted. This melt is solidified, crushed and classified to obtain a powdery material of 5-100mum particle size. The powdery material is roasted in an oxidizing atmosphere at a high temp. to lower the metallic chromium content in the material to <=0.5wt%.
