The apparatus for patching knot holes or the like in wooden boards, with a patching machine having a magazine for the wooden laminae, where wooden laminae and wooden board have preferred fibre directions, provides for the wooden laminae 5 to have at least one marking 9, 14, 16 in a predetermined position relative to the fibre direction, and for the magazine 2, 3 to have a device 11, 6 for detecting the marking on the wooden laminae.
