A measuring device for determining the content of CO2 in a sample, comprising as an indicator a pH-dependent fluorescent dye in aqueous solution which is embedded in a proton-impervious, gas-permeable polymer membrane and with which the sample may be brought into contact at least partially, and further comprising an arrangement for measuring the fluorescent light emitted by the indicator upon excitation, wherein the aqueous indicator solution is incorporated in the polymer membrane in homogeneous dispersion in the form of droplets whose diameters may range from 1 to 100 mu m.
