The support system for a railway line with points utilises precast concrete sleeper blocks (6, 7) transmitting loads to a concrete foundation (14) through elastic bearing pads (12, 13), the rails being fixed to the sleepers by metal connecting plates (8). Holding down bolts (20) fix the plate to the sleeper, sleeper sockets (18) aligning with plate slots to accommodate bolts (17) fixing the rails to the plate. Three different types of sleeper may be utilised for the pointing section, the monobloc heart section (5), and the sections straddling the heart respectively. The former support rail chairs or plattens and the latter (7) support rails (10) and counter rails (11). Elastomere pads (9) may interpose the plates and the sleepers, and conventional bi-block sleepers may be used in the transition section, the sleepers of the respective tracks being staggered longitudinally.
|
