In a centrally controlled communications PBX system KNST, the connected subscriber stations EG1...EGn have keypads TF1...TF2 with name keys N. Memories SPEG1...SPEG2 which are connected to the central controller ZST are assigned to the subscriber stations EG1...EGn to record the name key contents. The memory SPEG2 can also have an area ZSP to record the name key contents allocated to the subscriber station EG1. Prior to the allocation of the name key contents of a first subscriber station EG1 to a second subscriber station EG2, the central controller ZST checks, by means of special code for the name key content allocation which is to be changed which is transferred from this second subscriber station EG2, and by means of personal identification data of the first subscriber and the telephone number of the first subscriber station EG1, the authorisation of the first subscriber to change name key contents and, if the authorisation is confirmed, releases the change of the name key contents allocated to the second subscriber station EG2. <IMAGE>
