PURPOSE:To enable tool exchange in a cartridge unit by providing a cartridge transhipping station along a transfer path for a multi-purpose carriage applied to an automatic working system and a tool transfer device between tool magazines of a machine tool. CONSTITUTION:A cartridge stand 12 carried from a remote tool storage for example by a carriage 204 through a transfer path 202 is unloaded on the right end position of a transfer mechanism 20 in a cartridge transhipping station 200 together with a pallet 84 by a fork device 206 of the carriage 204 and then transferred onto a lift 60. Next, receiving racks 14 of the cartridge stand 12 are sequentially aligned with an exit port 108 of a tool magazine 100 by this lift 60 while cartridges 102 are one by one inserted into the tool magazine 100. Reversely the cargtridge 102 into which an unnecessary tool is inserted from the magazine 100 is transferred to the stand 12 and them to the right end of the transfer mechanism 20. Then, when the cartridge is again transhipped to the carriage 204, the tool can be returned to the storage. |
