The pressure relief (limiting) valve contains a valve chamber which is connected via an inlet opening (32) to the respirator and via an outlet opening to the atmosphere and has a valve closing member which lifts off from its valve seat (39) at the inlet opening at a certain pressure and thus connects the respirator to the atmosphere. The valve closing member is a valve diaphragm (23) which in the valve chamber (36) partitions off a closing-pressure chamber (37) supplied via a restrictor (24) with an auxiliary gas stream. Its top wall (40) contains a control valve (21, 22) leading to an outlet chamber (42) open via an opening (41) to the atmosphere. The tappet (43) of the axially movable control-valve cone (21), said tappet being passed through the said chamber, extends as far as a control diaphragm (20) which closes off a control chamber (38), arranged above the latter, which is subjected via a line (19) to the pressure of the breathing gas. It is thereby possible in the inhalation phase to discharge even large quantities of the breathing gas which remain unconsumed by the patient, and to do this virtually without an increase in pressure. <IMAGE> |
