PURPOSE:To obtain a molded thermoplastic resin article having inproved inpact resistance, ridigity, dimensional stability, and incineration property, by molding a blend of a molten thermoplastic resin with gypsum fibers and a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:100 parts by wt. of a molten thermoplastic resin, e.g. a polyolefin resin, is kneaded with gypsum fibers incorporated or covered with 0.1-10 parts by wt. of a lubricant having a melting point below the melt molding temperature of the resin, and the blend is molded. Prismatic or meedle-like crystals of alpha- hemihydrate or types I and II anhydrous gypsum may be cited as the gypsum fibers. The amount of the lubricant is preferably 200 parts by wt. or less per 100 parts by wt. of the resin due to the lowering of impact resistance by too much lubricant. If the amount is <0.1 wt.%, the gypsum fibers cannot be dispersed homogeneously in the resin. If the amount is >10 wt.%, the resin strength is adversely lowered. |
