NEW MATERIAL:A carbonate having an ethynyl group expressed by formula I (R represents H, alkyl or aryl). USE:Various synthetic intermediates, especially intermediates for medicines and agricultural chemicals. PREPARATION:A alpha-ethynylalcohol expressed by formula II such as propargyl alcohol is reacted with CO2 in an inert solvent such as methyl cyanide in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst such as ruthenium carbonyl in the coexistence of an organic base such as triethylamine as a promoter preferably nearly at 0 deg.C- room temperature under 1-50atm CO2 pressure to obtain the compound expressed by formula I.
