PURPOSE:To reduce the variance of the stop position of a tape reel motor and to enable the subsequent position control, by controlling the deceleration drive current for revolution of tape reel motor in a fixed direction and flowing an acceleration current for a prescribed period of time for control. CONSTITUTION:The deceleration currents to be supplied to A and B motors 14 and 15 are set by the speed information given from a control part 10 via a radius calculating part 7, a control circuit 16, an FF circuit 13 and an AND circuit 11. A and B motor drive parts 8 and 9 give the stop control to motors 14 and 15 respectively. The circuit 16 monitors whether the motor 15 is reversed and changes the deceleration current control to the acceleration current control for the part 9 and the part 8 which stops the output of the circuit 13. The circuit 16 stops the output after the acceleration current control is performed for prescribed period of time. Then the parts 8 and 9 stops motors A-14 and B-15 respectively.
